Jessica Walsh on Graphic Design USA’s People to Watch in 2013. February cover.
Things I am fond of: puppies, vanilla chai lattes, used book stores, Stefan Sagmeister, crafts, typography, AIGA, and hugs.
I aim for the impossible while enjoying the simple things in life.
Nothing like spending a Sunday afternoon hanging out with Jessica Walsh. She happened to be in town (oh..yknow, just being one the headlining speakers for the Adobe Max conference at the LA Convention Center) and so I thought I’d ask to see if she’d want to see the Happy Show at the MOCA.
Next thing I knew, Jessica said Stefan Sagmeister had texted her telling her to get everyone to strip. I turned around and the guys had taken their clothes off. Ironically security didn’t think anything of it, but then told my friends to not lean against the wall when they wanted a picture by the outlet.
Oh, and Stefan got a huge kick of the picture.

|Boss:||Organize all the InDesign files so that the most current template is being used for each school. Plug in each logo and design.|
|Second designer:||I'll do this half and you do this half.|
|A while later...|
|Second designer:||I'm done. What about you?|
|Me:||almost. I had some incoming edits from other projects to do.|
|We both finish...later I go to check the file and the second designer doesn't package his template file so all the links are missing. What's the point...|
Vibrant typographic prints by Boldover
I’d posted one of Dan Chamberlain’s prints over a year ago and took another look recently to see what was new. There’s now a huge collection of abstract typographic prints like these developing, with some great colour work.
Caux Collective Recommends: Zoran Lucić
Despite all of the writing I do, about other people’s work, it’s still not very often that I get to feature work that combines two of my greatest loves in life; Art and Football, but with Bosnian Artist & Illustrator Zoran Lucić, I am delighted that is exactly the case.
In his project, ‘Sucker For Soccer’ Lucić honed his skills in Graphic Design, Illustration and Typography to create a vast series of stunning posters featuring legends from the game, both past and present, which are sure to cover most of your favourite players, including Pele, Zico, Maradona, Dennis Bergkamp, Thierry Henry, Gerd Müller, Zinedine Zidane and many, many more.
Whilst Football may not be the chosen pass time of many of you art fans - as I said it’s not often enough that art and football are combined, in my opinion - I’m sure you can still appreciate these wonderful pieces for the design prowess they exhibit, if not for the subjects they promote. With all the precision and perfection of modern, digital design, with perfectly executed text and brilliantly illustrated subjects, as well as the charm of past eras of design, with distressed edges and a worn-look that is reminiscent of the football trading cards from years gone by, these posters are definitely something very special.
If you’d like to see more from Lucić, go ahead and visit the link above, where you can see Art Store, Sergeant Paper speak about his work, or visit his Behance profile, where you can view many more of his fantastic projects.
We hope you enjoyed this post. If there are any Artists you’d like us to write about, or you’d like to give us your opinion on any issues we’ve raised in this post, contact us on our Twitter, email us on firstname.lastname@example.org or message us here on our Tumblr page.
Went as Cedric Diggory and Cho Chang for the Harry potter party :)
Levi’s X Seb Lester
Amazing work, love the packaging. Seb Lester always does great work, very luxurious lettering. If you managed to miss this lovely video about his work when he released some new prints recently, now would be the time to watch it!
